Master’s Degree Programmes Scholarships
- Finland Scholarship Covers full tuition fee plus a 5000 EUR stipend to help you cover your daily expenses. Scholarship is granted for the first year but is extended for the second year subject to sufficient academic progress
- 2-year scholarship that covers the entire tuition fee for 2 academic years for Master’s Degree Programmes.
- A 2-year scholarship that covers 50 % of the tuition fee for 2 academic years for Master’s Degree Programmes.
- 1-year scholarship for outstanding performance during the 1st study year. The scholarship covers the 2nd year tuition fee.
Bachelor’s Degree Programmes Scholarships
- 3-year scholarship that covers the entire tuition fee for 3 academic years for Bachelor’s Degree Programmes.
- A 3-year scholarship that covers 50 % of the tuition fee for 3 academic years for Bachelor’s Degree Programmes.
- 2-year scholarship for outstanding performance during the 1st study year. The scholarship covers the 2nd and 3rd year tuition fee.
- 1-year scholarship for outstanding performance during the 1st and 2nd study year. The scholarship covers the 3rd year tuition fee.
- A scholarship will be granted to up to 30 % of the admitted students who are subject to tuition fees and have applied for a scholarship.
Eligibility
General application requirements for Undergraduate applicants
- You must hold an upper secondary education certificate. This should correspond to any of the following equivalent qualifications
- The Finnish matriculation examination,
- To the International Baccalaureate,
- The European Baccalaureate,
- Reifeprüfung/Die Deutsche Internationale Abiturprüfung
- If you are in your final year/ semester of your upper secondary education/ High school, you are as well eligible to apply, however the required secondary education studies have to be completed and the related enclosures sent to the university before the start of the academic year
- You must meet the minimum required English proficiency in order to be considered eligible to the University of Turku. the following Qualifications are accepted
- TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language with a minimum overall score of 80 and the writing test score 16 or more on the internet-based test (IBT).
- IELTS – International English Language Testing Service test (Academic) with an overall band score of 6.0. and the writing test score 5.5. or more.
- C2 Proficiency (previously CPE) – Cambridge English Qualifications with pass grade A, B or C.
- C1 Advanced (previously CAE) – Cambridge English Qualifications with pass grade A, B or C.
- PTE – Academic test with a minimum overall score of 54 and the writing test score 46 or more.
- YKI – Finnish certificate for language proficiency in English with a minimum score of 3 in the intermediate level test
General application requirements for Master’s degree applicants
- you must have a nationally recognized first cycle degree equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or University
- Your qualification must corresponds to at least 180 ECTS (European credits) or to three years of full-time study
- The degree must have been obtained in a relevant field for the Master’s degree programme that you wish to applying to.
- You must meet the minimum required English proficiency in order to be considered eligible to the University of Turku. the following Qualifications are accepted
- TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language with a minimum overall score of 90 and the writing test score 20 or more on the internet-based test (IBT).
- IELTS – International English Language Testing Service test (Academic) with an overall band score of 6.5. and the writing test score 6.0. or more.
- C2 Proficiency (previously CPE) – Cambridge English Qualifications with pass grade A, B or C.
- C1 Advanced (previously CAE) – Cambridge English Qualifications with pass grade A, B or C.
- PTE – Academic test with a minimum overall score of 62 and the writing test score 54 or more.
- YKI – Finnish certificate for language proficiency in English with a minimum score of 4 in the intermediate level test
Application
Applications for admission at the university of Turku for the 2024 academic year is open from January 3 to January 17, 2024 and studies begin in August 2024. Applications are submitted online and usually you are required to submit hard copies to support you application.
Start preparing Early
- You are advised to start preparing early as the application process is open for a short duration (Usually 2 weeks).
- So it is advisable to have all your documents ready by the start of the application period.
- Collect, certify and Authorize all your academic documents as early as possible
- Take an English proficiency test as this will be a crucial part of your application
Applying for admission and scholarships
- Using the same application form, you will be able to apply for any of the scholarships mentioned above. You are advised to prepare in time and have all your documents ready in time for your application. The following steps will help you prepare scholarship
- From the University website, find the study programme of your choice and read through the program specific requirements to make sure that you are eligible for the program
- Go through the general admission criteria into the university and verify that your documentation meets the standard set for admission. You may as well want to certify your Academic documents if that applies to you and collect any other documents that you think are important for application.
- If you do not have your English language proficiency certificate ready, you may use this time to get one as this is one of the main requirements for admission
