The University of Central Asia (UCA) is collaborating with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to offer and invite applications for several Doctoral scholarship opportunities to study in Germany. These scholarships are dedicated to students from selected Central Asian Countries who wish to pursue their Doctoral studies in the fields below:
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Communications and Media
- Business Management
- Earth and Environmental Sciences
- Economics.
Who can Apply? Applicants must be students from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan who have successfully completed a Master’s degree programme in one of the above mentioned fields and wish to continue their studies at a Doctoral level.
These scholarships aim to build on the existing collaboration between UCA and DAAD and to further strengthen and enhance the academic quality of UCA’s future faculty. The scholarships are also part of UCA’s ongoing Central Asian Faculty Development Programme (CAFDP) designed to ensure that scholars from the region are strongly represented in UCA’s faculty.
Benefits
Selected applicants will receive the following benefits
- Funding is available and granted for a maximum of four years
- You will receive funding initially for a maximum of one year. Extensions is then subject on whether the selection committee considers the previous award period to have been successfully completed.
- Funding includes a monthly payments of 1,200 Euro to facilitate your stay in Germany
- You will also receive payments towards your health, accident and personal liability insurance cover
- Grants include allowances for mobility and travel
- There is also an annual research allowance
- You may also receive additional supplementary funding to go toward paying for your monthly rent and facilitate accompanying family members
Eligibility
To apply, you will be required to meet the eligibility criteria below
- You must be a citizens of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan
- Applicants must have completed a master’s degree and are eligible to study for a Doctoral programme at a University n Germany.
- You must demonstrate interest Doctoral programme in fields reflecting UCA academic listed priorities
- Applicants must not have graduated for more than six (6) by the deadline of application
- Please note that good knowledge of German language is usually expected. For natural sciences and engineering, you must demonstrate proof of good English language skills.
- Applicants will have a German language preparatory course at the beginning of their research, therefore you must be ready to attend in case you posses no German skills
Application
To apply, you must first secure or submit evidence of admission to a German university for a doctoral programme. Along with tis evidence, you must also submit names of a supervisor from the university with whom you have agreed on collaboration.
Together with the above information, you must complete an online application form and submit the following documents
- Your most recent curriculum vitae in tabular form
- Submit a List of publications if you have any
- You must include a detailed description of the research proposal you will have agreed on with your supervisor.
- Also submit a description of previous research work and a schedule of planned research work
- You must submit your Diplomas, Degree certificates and transcripts of records indicating final grade
- Also submit proof of language skills corresponding to the requirements of the host institution
- In case your documents are not issued in English, submit their authorised translations in German or English
If possible, request and submit recent reference from a university teacher. The reference must provide information on your qualifications. This must be hand-signed and must be submitted to DAAD Information Center in Bishkek at the address below
