Apply for the Umeå University Scholarship for Foreign Students to study in Sweden. Each year, Umeå University offers several scholarships to talented passionate and high-achieving students from outside the EU/EEA who wish to study for an eligible master’s degree program in Sweden. Scholarships will be offered to students who have secured admission for an English taught master’s degree programme at Umeå University.
Besides the Swedish Institute Scholarships, the university offers two other scholarship categories as described below.
- Umeå University Scholarship for International Students. This scholarship is offered each to students applying for the Autumn semester admission. The scholarship is dedicated to academically talented, excellent and high-achieving students from outside the EU.
- Erling-Persson Scholarship for International Students in Public Health: These scholarships are offered Umeå University each year to students applying for the Autumn semester admission. These are usually academically talented, excellent and high-achieving students. The scholarship is dedicated to students in public health and is sponsored by a donation from the Erling-Persson Family Foundation.
Benefits
The scholarships will offer the following benefits
- The Umeå University Scholarships for International Students are offered are in the form of tuition-waivers covering either full or partial waiver of the tuition fees to selected students.
- Erling-Persson Scholarship program offers 8 scholarships to new students covering full tuition waivers as well as an allowance worth SEK 3000 per month to cover their living expenses
Eligibility
Applicants for the Umeå University Scholarship for International Students must meet the following application conditions.
- You must be a citizen of a country outside of EU/EEA and Switzerland.
- Applicants must meet conditions for admission into the master’s degree programme of their choice.
- You will need to complete your application for admission for master’s degree programme before you are to be considered for the scholarship
- To be considered, you must have Umeå University programme as your first priority the University Admissions platform.
Applicants for the Erling-Persson Scholarships must meet the following criteria
- You must be a citizen of a country outside of EU/EEA and Switzerland.
- candidates must meet conditions for admission into the master’s degree programme in public health.
- You must have completed your application for admission for master’s degree programme before you are to be considered for the scholarship
- To be considered, you must have Umeå University programme as your first priority the University Admissions platform.
Application
You must apply for an eligible master’s degree of your choice keeping in mind if you wish to apply for either the Umeå University Scholarship for International Students or the Erling-Persson Scholarships. Please remember that you will need to secure admission for a degree programme of your choice awarded at Umeå University programme as priority 1.
The application period for the scholarships mentioned above will open on February 2, 2024, exactly one day after the deadline for application for admission has closed. Only students who will have applied for admission will be eligible to apply for the scholarships.
Eligible applicants will receive emails with detailed instructions on how to apply for the scholarships as soon as scholarship application forms open. Remember that application for admission for a master’s degree programme closes on February 1, 2024
