TropHEE DAAD Scholarship at TU Darmstadt in Germany

Applications for the TropHEE DAAD Scholarship programme at TU Darmstadt in Germany are now open. The DAAD Scholarship is dedicated to students who are applying and are planning to study a Masters Course in Tropical Hydrogeology and Environmental Engineering(TropHEE) at TU Darmstadt. The scholarship is offered for studies commencing in the Winter semester of 2024/2025.

This scholarship is offered by DAAD under the Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS) and is dedicated to applicants from developing countries. Since the scholarship is not offered by TU Darmstadt, interested applicants must apply for the scholarship first and then later apply for enrolment for the course.

Who can Apply? For the scholarship at TU Darmstadt, you must be applying for the Masters Course in Tropical Hydrogeology and Environmental Engineering(TropHEE). Applicants must also be coming from developing countries and meet the conditions for the DAAD EPOS scholarship programme. Please also note that these are highly competitive scholarships and are dedicated to excellent performing students who have completed least four years of full-time university education and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree.


Accepted applicants will be eligible for the following benefits

  • If selected, you will receive a monthly stipend of EUR 934 for the two-year TropHEE program at TU Darmstadt
  • You will receive coverage for health, accident and liability insurance.
  • You will also receive full coverage for tuition fees the Masters Course in Tropical Hydrogeology and Environmental Engineering(TropHEE) program
  • Travel costs for travel from your country to Germany will also be covered by DAAD.
  • You may also receive subsides for Housing under this programme
  • Selected candidates who travel with family members may also receive extra allowances


Applicants for the programme must meet the following conditions

  • Applicants must prove excellent academic performance in their previous studies.
  • You must be a national or citizen of a developing country
  • Candidates must have completed at least four years of full-time university education and posses a Bachelor’s degree at the time of application.
  • You must posses a minimum of 2 years professional experience, primarily in the field of water and preferably outside the university
  • You must also meet the general entry requirements for the TropHEE set by the TU Darmstadt
  • Applicants must not have completed a Master’s degree already
  • Proof of sufficient English language proficiency


Applications for the scholarship are submitted directly to the department at the respective University where the course is offered. Applicant are therefore advised to forward their applications to the TropHEE Office, Institute of Applied Geosciences, Technische Universitaet Darmstadt by the deadline of December 15, 2023.

  • The signed DAAD checklist hat can be downloaded from the program website (see link below)
  • proof of English language skills: IELTS or TOEFL

The DAAD checklist contains a list of documents that candidates must submit as part of their application. Download the checklist document and collect all the requested documents. Submit these documents along with the above mentioned documents. You will need these documents to complete the checklist

  • Transcripts of records
  • Proof of Professional experience relevant to the course you are applying for
