The Brenthurst Foundation is inviting applications from young graduates for the Machel-Mandela Fellowship Programme. This fellowship is named in honour of Nelson Mandela, the former South African President and his wife Graca Machel. One of the main goals of the fellowship is to become the most fellowship of its kind maturing and training future leaders on the African continent.

The fellowship runs for a period of six (6) months, starting in May 2022. This fellowship is generally dedicated to applicants from the African continent. As a fellow, yo will be based at the organization’s headquarters in Parkton- Johannesburg, south Africa where you will work on different fellowship activities.

Benefits

Selected fellows will be eligible for the following benefits

  • You will receive a monthly stipend to help cover your expenses including accommodation.
  • Fellows will receive coverage of any other work–related expenses subject to agreement with the Foundation.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following requirements

  • Applicants must be under 30 years of age at the time of application.
  • Potential fellows must hold a Masters level degree if they are to be considered.
  • You must posses proof of excellent spoken and written English although knowledge of African and other languages will be an added advantage.
  • Proof of Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • You must posses excellent all the basic IT skills which include editing and proofreading of documents.
  • Proven knowledge of African politics and economics is an essential requirement

  1. You must submit your latest CV with details of potential referees
  2. A well drafted covering letter explaining why you are applying for the fellowship and the skills you can bring to bear
  3. Submit a writing sample in form of an essay or a published article.
  4. Specify information regarding the earliest date you would be able to start work
