Apply for the Global Cooperation and Sustainable Development Scholarship at ETH Zurich in Switzerland. The scholarship is dedicated to students and applicants from least-​, lower-​ and lower-​middle income countries to pursue a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Global Cooperation and Sustainable Development at ETH Zurich in Switzerland.

The MAS in Global Cooperation and Sustainable Development is intended for motivated students who are passionate about addressing global inequality and poverty, concerned about the future well-being of our planet and demonstrate the desire to foster global justice and sustainability. Along side in class based courses, Students also undertake an eight-month on the-job training abroad, and have the opportunity apply their knowledge as junior professionals in an international organisation from policy, civil society or industry.

Benefits


Selected students for the Global Cooperation and Sustainable Development Scholarship will receive the following benefits.

  • You will receive coverage for tuition fees for the entire duration of the course
  • Students will receive a monthly allowance worth 2,200 CHF per month 10 months of the duration of the study programme
  • You will also receive coverage for living costs for the duration of the Junior Project Assignment (JPO). This will be covered by a separate stipend granted to all participants of the MAS GCSD programme by the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC)
  • The scholarship will also reimburse you costs related to flight tickets and visa fees

Eligibility


To apply for the programme, you must mee the following conditions

  • You must have completed Master’s degree from a recognised university.
  • The scholarship is open to students from from all least-​, lower-​ and lower-​middle income countries (Please see full list here)
  • Applicants must have a proof of English Proficiency equivalent to a minimum English standard TOEFL level C1 / TOEFL 95-​120. 
  • To be awarded the scholarship, you must apply and be accepted by the ETH MAS GCSD programme
  • You must therefore meet the admission conditions for the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) ETH in Global Cooperation and Sustainable Development

Application


Applicants must apply for both the admission into the MAS GCSD programme and also for the Global Cooperation and Sustainable Development Scholarship. Both applications can be submitted in parallel. The deadline for both applications is February 29, 2024. Follow the steps below

Step 1: Application to MAS GCSD programme

  • Visit the programme website and confirm that you meet the program eligibility criteria
  • Submit your application for admission into the MAS GCSD programme by the deadline of February 29, 2024.

Step 2: Application for the GCSD Scholarship

The application for the scholarship is submitted online via the online portal provided
To complete your application, you must also submit the following supporting documents

  • Submit a recent CV of maximum two pages 2 pages (Check here on how to write a Europass CV)
  • You must submit a copy of passport.
  • Candidates must submit copies of their Master’s Diplomas, degrees and and academic transcript of records
  • Write a 1–2-​page application letter, clearly stating the motivation to attend the programme and the impact for the candidate’s career development and beyond.
  • You must also request two reference letters. The reference letters must be sent by the recommending persons directly to the ETH4D–GCSD Scholarship office ([email protected])
  • Include an English Language certificate with an equivalent minimum level TOEFL level C1 / TOEFL 95-​120. (The Language certificate can be submitted until April 1)
