The British Council Scotland SGSAH EARTH Scholarships 2024

Apply for the British Council Scotland SGSAH EARTH Scholarships 2024. The main aim of the Scholarships is to enable international research collaborations between PhD, Early Career Researchers, Scottish Higher Education Institutions, Scotland-based academic mentors, and external organizations. The program is made possible with funding from the British Council and focuses on environmental arts and humanities.

For Who? The program is dedicated to PhD and Early Career Researchers based outside the UK. These selected scholars will have the opportunity to go to Scotland for a 3 months exchange experience at a selected Higher Education Institution (HEI).

Can I Apply? Candidates must be PhD and Early Career Researchers who are currently registered, or previously graduated at a non-UK Institution, in the domain of environmental arts and humanities. 10 researchers will be selected for the 2024 selection round.


Benefits


Selected applicants will be eligible for the following benefits

  • The scholarship will cover your Cost travel from your country of origin to Scotland and may include coverage for any required internal travel.
  • Funding includes coverage for costs for accommodation for the entire time you plan to spend at your Host institution
  • Applicants who are not covered by insurance from your home institution will receive funding to cover their insurance for the entire duration of the mobility
  • You will get a Subsistence allowance to cover your costs and expenditures worth up to £30 per day
  • Funding also includes coverage for Visa costs incurred during the Visa application process

Eligibility


To apply, you must meet the following eligibility criteria

  • You must be a current PhD researcher in the Arts & Humanities registered at any non-UK university
  • Applicants may also be an Early Career Researcher in the Arts & Humanities who recently graduated from any non-UK university
  • A PhD researchers may apply at any stage of their PhD, provided they have the full support of their supervisor (as expressed in their Letter of Support)

Applicants will be posted at one of the following 17 eligible 17 SGSAH HEIs

  • Abertay University
  • Edinburgh Napier University
  • Glasgow Caledonian University
  • The Glasgow School of Art
  • Heriot-Watt University
  • Queen Margaret University
  • Robert Gordon University
  • Royal Conservatoire of Scotland
  • University of Aberdeen
  • The University of Dundee
  • University of Edinburgh
  • The University of Glasgow
  • University of St Andrews
  • The University of Stirling
  • University of Strathclyde
  • The University of the Highlands & Islands
  • University of the West of Scotland

Application


All applications must be submitted through the online application portal by the deadline of November 1, 2023. Applicants must not that to complete your application, you need to find a Mentor. The program has prepared an application guide which you can follow to guide you on finding a Mentor. The application guide is available on the program website.

Before initiating your application, you must first create an account on the system and complete your preliminary personal information. Applicants will then be requested to write several essays on topics including:

  • Research Project Proposal Summary
  • Your detailed Research Proposal
  • Budget and Justification of Resources

Applicants will also be required to upload the following supporting documents:

  • A recent CV
  • Letter of support from your PhD supervisor
  • A Letter of support from your proposed Host Institution
