The ARES Belgian Government Masters and Training Scholarships in Belgium are now open for application. Are you a national of a developing country? Do you already hold a master’s degree? These Scholarships for masters and training courses will offer you the chance to pursue a one-year specialised master’s degree programme or a 4-to-6-month advanced training course within a higher education institution of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Belgium.
The scholarships are awarded each year and this year, an average of 150 scholarships as part of the master’s program, and 70 grants for training courses, to citizens from countries in the global South as indicated in the eligible list. The 1 year specialized master’s courses for this academic year are as follows

- Master de spécialisation en gestion des risques et des catastrophes
- Specialized Master in Integrated Management of Health Risks in the Global South (IManHR)
- Specialized Master in International and development Economics
- Master de spécialisation en médecine transfusionnelle
- Specialized Master in Microfinance
- Master de spécialisation en production intégrée et préservation des ressources naturelles en milieu urbain et péri-urbain
- Specialized Master in Public Health Methodology
- Master de spécialisation en sciences de la santé publique – méthodes de recherche appliquées à la santé globale
- A Master de spécialisation en sciences et gestion de l’environnement dans les pays en développement
- Master de spécialisation en transport et logistique
The 4 to 6 months training courses for this academic year are as follows
- Stage en contrôle et assurance qualité des médicaments et produits de santé
- A Stage en système d’information géographique
- Stage en valorisation des ressources secondaires pour une construction durable
- Stage méthodologique en appui à l’innovation en agriculture familiale
Benefits
Successfull applicants will be eligible for the following benefits
Masters Scholarship
- You will receive coverage for international travel costs, that is , an economy-class travel on an IATA-approved airline, with a maximum of one round-trip ticket per academic year.
- Beneficiaries will receive a flat rate worth 1150 €/month for a duration of 12 months to cover their living allowances
- You will receive a once a month indirect mission fees worth 150 €.
- Upon your arrival, you will receive an arrival allowance, tuition and return fees worth 700 €
- Other coverages include Registration fees, Insurance fees and travel costs that are part of inter-university training
Training Course
- You will receive coverage for international travel costs, that is , an economy-class travel on an IATA-approved airline, with a maximum of one round-trip ticket per academic year.
- Successful applicants will be eligible for the following Living allowance:
- 83 €/day for stays lasting 8 to 17 days
- 1400 €/month for stays lasting 18 days to 1 month (set amount)
- 1400 €/month for stays lasting 1 to 6 months, prorated to the number of days
- You will receive a once a month indirect mission fees worth 150 €.
- Other coverages include Registration fees, Insurance fees and travel costs that are part of inter-university training
Eligibility
- Applicants must be citizens of a developing country. This means that they must be born, residing and working in a developing country at the time of application
- To apply, you must be a national of the following developing countries (Please see list here)
- You must be under the age of 40 for Master’s degree programs and under 45 for training courses at the time the training is scheduled to begin
- Applicants must have earned a diploma comparable to a graduate-level diploma from Belgian university studies for Master’s degree applicants.
- You must Possess relevant professional experience in a developing country of at least two years after graduate studies, or of three years after their studies if the applicant has earned a post-grad degree from a university in an industrialized country
- Applicants are expected to have proficiency in the French Language. However, For training courses held in another language, it is essential to have a proper level in the course’s language, both written and spoken.
