Applications for the Royal Thai Government Scholarships at Asian Institute of Technology are now open. The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Royal Thai Government Scholarships is managed by AIT and offers a number of Doctoral and Master’s level non-bonded scholarships. The scholarships are sponsored and provided by the Royal Thai Government (RTG) dedicated to qualified candidates with excellent academic qualifications from Thailand and other Asian countries. The scholarships aim to provide an opportunity for students of diverse background from all countries in Asia to study and do research work together in the truly international environment at AIT and to build a good foundation for international understanding among people of Asia.
- His Majesty the King’s Scholarships for PhD and Master’s Program
This scholarship is granted to qualified candidates with excellent undergraduate achievements from any Asian country to pursue a Master’s Degree or PhD program in any of the academic program offered at School of Engineering and Technology (SET) and, School of Environment, Resources and Development(SERD) and School of Management (SOM)
- Loom Nam Khong Pijai (GMS Scholarships) for Master’s Program
The Loom Nam Khong Pijai Scholarships are granted by the Royal Thai Government in honor of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The aim is to assist human resource development in 6 GMS countries
Benefits
Selected applicants of the above mentioned scholarships will receive the following benefits.
- Scholarship recipients will receive coverage for tuition fees for their selected degree program.
- You will also receive accommodation in AIT’s residential campus, for the entire duration of the program.
- Selected students will also receive a bursary for living expenses for the entire period of the 22-month master degree program.
Eligibility
- His Majesty the King’s Scholarships for PhD and Master’s Program
- Eligible countries include:
1) Bhutan and Timor-Leste
2) ASEAN countries
3) Other Asian countries
- You must have an outstanding education record in a 4-year undergraduate program from an accredited institution in related fields if applying for the Master’s program
- Candidates for the PhD program must have completed a Bachelors and master’s degree program with excellent academic results
- Applicants will be required to present two recommendation letters.
- You will need to draft a Research proposal
- Candidates must have sufficient proficiency in English as required by AIT
- You must have obtained an acceptable CGPA in your Bachelor’s degree as below
- At least 2.75 (or equivalent) from the universities listed in QS 1,000 World University Ranking or QS Top 350 Asian Universities Ranking or
- A 3.0 or over (or equivalent) from other universities
- CGPA for Master’s degree must be atleast 3.5 (or equivalent)
- Loom Nam Khong Pijai (GMS Scholarships) for Master’s Program
- Eligible countries include: Cambodia, Southern Part of China: Yunnan and Guangxi provinces, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand
- Applicants must be applying for the following Subjects:
- Infrastructure Development
- Energy Technology
- Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Development, and
- Environmental Engineering and Management.
- You must meet the following criteria:
- Have an outstanding education record in a 4-year undergraduate program from an accredited institution in related fields;
- Have a high proficiency in English as required by AIT (Applicants can also take the AIT English Test administered by the AIT Language Center);
- At least a 3.0 (or equivalent) from the universities listed in QS 1,000 World University Ranking or QS Top 350 Asian Universities Ranking or
- 3.5 or above (or equivalent) from other universities.
Application
Only applicants who meet the admission conditions of their selected degree by the deadline set by their faculty will be considered for one of the above scholarships. You are therefore advised to apply for admission as soon as possible
During your application for admission, you will be given an option to indicate if you wish to apply for a scholarship and you must specify this under section E. There is no extra scholarship application required for consideration.
If you receive an offer for your selected programme, you file will be forwarded to the select committee responsible for the scholarship you indicated and you will be evaluated for the scholarship
You should therefore make sure that you complete the application form once, regardless of which scholarship you would like to be considered for.
