Newcastle University is committed to offering support to the very best international students hoping to pursue a programme of research. The university is therefore offering a small number of University funded NUORS awards for outstanding international students. Interested applicants must be planning to apply or have applied to commence PhD studies in any field of their choice starting the academic year 2024/25.

Benefits


Benefits for applicants are as below.

  • The University offers 15 scholarships for this academic year
  • This award covers the difference between home and overseas fee rates (value approximately £16,188 to £124,088 per annum).

Eligibility


To be eligible, you must fulfill the following criteria

  • You must have been offered a place for a PhD research programme of your choice
  • Applicants must be international/overseas for fees purposes from any country regardless of their nationality.
  • You must be a wholly or partially self-financing student
  • Candidates must be intending to register to start their studies for the 2024/25 academic year.

Please note:

  • The scholarship is dedicated to new Incoming students, therefore, NUORS award cannot be made for a course that has already been started by a student.
  • To apply, you must been offered a place on a PhD research programme of your choice.
  • The scholarship is awarded for study based at the Newcastle Campus.

Application


To apply you must follow the following procedure

  1. Eligible applicants are advised to first apply for admission for any preferred PhD programme of study based at the Newcastle Campus
  2. Once your offer has been confirmed, you may then submit your application for the NUORS scholarship award.
  3. As part of your scholarship application, you will be required to provide details of an academic referee to support your application
  4. The university will directly contact your referee and request then for a recommendation
