Applications for the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences DAAD Helmut-Schmidt Scholarships are now open to eligible applicants. These scholarships are dedicated to international students who wish to pursue a Master’s Programme at the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

The DAAD Helmut-Schmidt Scholarship aim to train future leaders in politics, law, economics and administration. recipients of the scholarship are usually pro-active individuals who want to actively contribute to the social and economic growth of developing countries. Applicants must have completed a Bachelors degree and planning to enroll in a Master’s programme in Social Protection at the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences

Eligible applicants are students from selected developing countries who wish to study a Master’s in programme in Social Protection at the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences. There are 9 scholarships up for grabs for the 2023/2024 academic year. Selected students will have to take a 6 months mandatory German language course before starting their official studies, all funded by the scholarship

Benefits


DAAD will offer the following benefits for students who will be selected for this programme

  • The scholarship covers your tuition fees for the entire duration of the programme
  • Selected applicants will receive a monthly stipend worth 934 Euros to cater of their daily expenses.
  • You will also receive tuition coverage for the 6 month German language course.
  • Scholarship recipients will also receive allowances for spouses and children who accompany them to Germany

Eligibility


To apply for this DAAD funded scholarship, you must meet the following conditions

  • The scholarship is solely dedicated to students and citizens developing countries. (See full list here)
  • Applicants must have completed a Bachelors Degree in public policy, economics, political science, social science, international relations, business administration, public health, psychology or a related field.
  • Eligible applicants must also posses at least 5 months of practical social protection experience. This could be paid work, volunteer or internship experience
  • You must demonstrate English Language proficiency of at least a C1 level according to the common European Framework.

Application


Applications are submitted online using the provided online application portal. Selection for candidates will be based on the quality of your CV. academic qualification, research proposal motivation and recommendation letters.

You will need the following documents to complete your application

  • The DAAD application form for Research Grants and Study Scholarships (green form) along with the checklist form
  • Research proposal of around 800 words detailing your proposed research topic, research question, methodology and approach
  • A Europass CV including information your study history, your political and social engagement and work experience (Step by Step guide on how to write a Europass CV)
  • Detailed Letter of Motivation (with reference to current occupation and choice of postgraduate program (s), two pages maximum
  • Letter of recommendation from your current employer on a letterhead, a signature and official stamp and must be of current date.
  • Copies of your Academic Degrees, certificates and Transcripts of record
  • Proof of English language proficiency
