Harmonization of Entrepreneurship Education Delivery in Africa (HEED-Africa) project is made up of a consortium of partner universities from Africa and Europe. The consortium comprises of Addis Ababa University, Coordinating Institution (Ethiopia), the University of Ghana (Ghana), Milpark Education (South Africa), Makerere University (Uganda), Kyambogo University (Uganda) and the University of Wolverhampton (United Kingdom).
HEED-Africa strives to foster the development of student and staff academic exchange through a systematic academic mobility flows framework in joint study, researches, academic activities, and mobility agreements across five regional higher education institutions.
HEED-Africa is uncovering better ways of sponsoring African post-graduate students to study in Africa by granting them full academic scholarships into African higher institutions. Heed Africa achieves this by offering three categories of educational opportunities. They include Academic Staff Mobilities, Scholarships for Masters programmes, and Scholarships for PhD Programmes. Following an application, successful candidates are given offerings into higher institutions in Africa.
Benefits
The scholarship will cover:
- Round-trip flight ticket and visa costs.
- Participation costs such as tuition fees, registration fees and service fees where applicable.
- Insurance coverage (including health, accident, travel, respectively).
- A settling-in allowance.
- A monthly subsistence allowance.
- A contribution towards the research costs associated with student mobility of 10 months or longer.
- Female master and doctoral scholarship holders will receive an additional allowance corresponding to one month’s subsistence per academic year, for mobility equal to or longer than two academic years.

- Masters: Monthly Allowance worth €600 plus One-Off Settling-in Allowance worth €600
- Doctorate: Monthly Allowance worth €900 plus One-Off Settling-in Allowance worth €900
- Staff: Monthly Allowance worth €1,200
Eligibility
1. Masters Students Mobility
To be eligible for a scholarship, master students must comply with the following criteria set out below at the time of the application.
- 1. Be a national and resident in any of the eligible countries covered by the Programme.
- 2. Be registered or admitted in or having obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from:
- 3. For Target Group I: Be registered or admitted in or having obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from one of the HEIs included in the partnership as a partner.
- 4. For Target Group II: Be registered or admitted in or having obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from a HEI not included in the partnership as a partner but established in an eligible country.
- 5. Have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses in the host countries.
- 6. Students can only benefit from one scholarship within the same project under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme-2017 regardless of the type of mobility or the funding project.
- 7. Students having benefited from scholarship(s) under the previous Intra-ACP Academic Mobility Scheme cannot receive scholarships under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme.
- 8. No mobility flows for student between institutions located within a single country of the partnership are eligible.
2. Doctorate Students Mobility
To be eligible for a scholarship, doctoral students must comply with the following criteria set out below at the time of the application.
- 1. Be a national and resident in any of the eligible countries covered by the Programme.
- 2. Be registered or admitted in or having obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from:
- For Target Group I: Be registered or admitted in or having obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from one of the HEIs included in the partnership as a partner.
- For Target Group II: Be registered or admitted in or having obtained a HEI degree or equivalent from a HEI not included in the partnership as a partner but established in an eligible country.
- 3. Have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses in the host countries.
- Students can only benefit from one scholarship within the same project under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme-2017 regardless of the type of mobility or the funding project.
- 4. Students, having benefitted from scholarship(s) under the previous Intra-ACP Academic Mobility Scheme, cannot receive scholarships under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme.
- 5. No mobility flows for students between institutions located within a single country of the partnership are eligible.
3. Academic and Administrative Staff Mobility
The staff mobility, academic and administrative staff, offers additional opportunities for personal and professional development through the possibility of doing practical training, researching and teaching in a partner institution with the duration of 1 or 2 months of effective work. This type of mobility always involves the active participation in teaching, research and in the daily life of office activities. By submitting his/her application the applicant must be aware not only of the eligibility criteria but also of the tasks that the mobility will demand.
In order to be eligible for a scholarship academic and administrative staff must comply with the following criteria at the time of the application for a scholarship:
- 1. Be a national and resident in any of the eligible countries covered by the Programme.
- 2. Work for full time in a one of the partner university.
- 3. Have not benefited in the past from an Intra Africa scholarship for the same type of mobility.
- 4. Academic and administrative staff can only benefit from one scholarship within same project under the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme regardless of the type of mobility or the funding project.
- 5. No mobility flows for staff between institutions located within a single country of the partnership are eligible.
- Have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses or of one of the languages currently spoken in the hosting countries.
