HAN Scholarships at HAN University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands

Apply for HAN Scholarships at HAN University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Have enrolled or thinking to enroll in a bachelor or master degree at HAN? HAN university has several opportunities for students from countries outside the EU/EEA to apply for scholarships to finance their studies. If you fit this profile, then you may qualify for a HAN scholarship. These are offered in collaboration with the Dutch Ministry of Education and Sciences.

HAN university offers several scholarship programs at both Bachelors and Masters levels for students form non-EU/EEA countries. These scholarships include:

  • Orange Tulip Scholarship
  • HAN Holland Scholarship
  • Honors Scholarship

Scholarships are now open for students who apply and receive admission to start their studies in September 2024. Applicants usually have a record of outstanding achievement and academic excellence in their previous studies.


Successful applicants will benefit from a scholarship program consisting of financial assistance.

Bachelors Students

  1. Orange Tulip Scholarship
    • Financial Scholarship worth € 12,500
  2. HAN Holland Scholarship
    • Financial Scholarship worth € 12,500
  3. Honors Scholarship
    • Financial Scholarship worth € 7,500

Masters Students

  1. Honors Scholarship
    • Financial Scholarship worth € 2,500
  2. HAN Holland Scholarship
    • Financial Scholarship worth € 5,000


Have you made outstanding achievements in your education and personal development? Are you a national of a country outside the EU/EEA? Are you not from an EU country or Norway, Lichtenstein, Iceland or Switzerland? Then you’re a good candidate for one of the HAN scholarships below.

To be eligible you must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be nationals of a country outside the EU/EEA
  • You have not previously been enrolled in a degree at a university or university of applied sciences in the Netherlands
  • Applicants must have been accepted into a full-time English-taught degree program at HAN
  • You have an IELTS score of at least 6.5, a TOEFL iBT score of at least 90 or a Cambridge Certificate (CAE or CPE)

Orange Tulip Scholarship

  • The scholarship is reserved for applicants from Brazil, China, Indonesia, Russia, India, South Korea, Mexico or Vietnam

HAN Holland Scholarship 

  • This scholarship is for Students from another non-EU/EEA country

Honors Scholarship

  • This scholarship is dedicated to non-EU/EEA students who didn’t get a scholarship in the 1st year


To apply for the scholarship, you are advised to follow the following procedure.

  1. Complete your enrolment in a bachelor or master degree by April 1 to start your course in September 2024
  2. Prepare your application including by preparing the following items:
    • A motivation letter explaining why you’ll be a successful HAN student
      • You should make a short video of yourself with a  Maximum of 3 minutes answering the following topics
      • You should describe yourself and the things you excel in
      • Explain what would your former teachers or your friends tell us about you?
      • Talk about your chosen course of study at HAN
      • Imagine you’re working in a team. Based on your personality and/or experience, what role would you have and why?
        What are your career ambitions? What and where do you think you’ll be 10 years from now (professionally speaking)?
    • Your most recent Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  3. You will receive a link in an email inviting you to apply for one of the scholarships. Fill out the application and Submit it
