Apply for the Croatian Government Scholarships For International Students. The scholarships are offered by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia in partnership with the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes. These scholarships are offered on basis of Bilateral agreements signed between Croatia and several other countries. The Scholarships are offered for study or research at participating higher Education Institutions in Croatia.

Applicants for the scholarships are foreign students and teachers of higher education institutions as well as research fellows who are interested in gaining further professional experience in Croatian institutions of higher education or research. Recipients have the opportunity to study or carry out research in any field of study of their choice at any selected participating Higher education or research Institution in Croatia.

These scholarships are divided into two categories

Application Pool 1: Bilateral Agreements

Scholarships under this category are dedicated to citizens of countries that have a valid/effective educational co-operation programme with Croatia or a bilateral agreement signed by the Croatian Government and the relevant ministry of the given country (or territory).

Application Pool 2: Scholarships for Croatian Language Students

These scholarships are dedicated to foreign Croatian language students and students of Slavic Studies who are currently enrolled. Students can apply regardless of whether their countries have any bilateral agreement with Croatia.

Benefits


Undergraduate/graduate studies

  • A monthly Stipend worth 300 EUR to cover your daily costs.
  • You will receive Subsidized accommodation in the student hall of residence.
  • Selected applicants will also receive Subsidized meals at student restaurants.

Full PhD studies and partial PhD studies or research for PhD students

  • A monthly Stipend worth 320 EUR to cover your daily costs.
  • You will receive Subsidized accommodation in the student hall of residence.
  • Selected applicants will also receive Subsidized meals at student restaurants.

Postdoctoral studies or research 1 – 10 months

  • Scholars will receive a monthly stipend worth 480 EUR to cover their daily costs.
  • You will also receive Subsidized accommodation in the student residence hall.

Short research stays 3 – 14 days

  • A Stipend worth 30 EUR per diem.
  • You will also receive Subsidized accommodation in the student residence hall.

Summer seminar

  • You will have full coverage of the Tuition fee for course.
  • Selected students will also receive Free accommodation and meals.
  • An opportunity to attend a Cultural programme.

Eligibility


In order to apply for this opportunity, you must meet the following application criteria

Application Pool 1: Bilateral Agreements

  • Applicants must be coming form countries that have signed Bilateral agreements with Croatia.
  • Here is the list of all eligible countries: Belgium (Flanders), Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Germany (Bavaria), Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Turkey and Ukraine.

Application Pool 2: Scholarships for Croatian Language Students

  • Applicants must be foreign students who are currently enrolled in Croatian language and Slavic Studies.
  • Students can apply regardless of whether their countries have any bilateral agreement with Croatia.

Other requirements

  • All Applicants must 18 or older at the beginning of their mobility in Croatia.
  • There is no age for applicants for Postdoctoral research visits and Summer seminar of Croatian language and literature
  • Applicants for BA studies must have a maximum age limit of 25 years
  • Candidates for MA studies for must have a maximum age limit of 30 years
  • semester studies for Croatian language and Slavic studies students (A1).
  • Applicants for PhD Studies must have a maximum age limit of 35 years

Application


Application Pool 1: Bilateral Agreements

  • The applicants must complete and submit their application, and upload the required documents using the online application portal provide.
  • In addition, they must also contact their national institution in charge of the preliminary selection of applicants and be nominated for the Bilateral Scholarships.
  • The nominating Institution should send by e-mail or post the Nomination Letter for the nominated candidate by March 31, 2023.

You application will consist of the following documents

  • Required documents in English or Croatian submitted by the applicant in the Agency’s online application system
  • Nomination Letter sent by e-mail (or post) to the Agency from the foreign partner institution by which it nominates the applicant for the Bilateral Scholarships.

Application Pool 2: Scholarships for Croatian Language Students

  • Candidates must be nominated for the Scholarships by their current Croatian language lector, therefore you are advised to contact your lector and request a nomination in form of a recommendation letter.
  • The applicants should submit the Recommendation Letter together with the rest of the required application documents through the Agency’s online application system by April 5, 2024.
